Don’t take our word for it, just hear about our successes from the people who matter. Here’s what Ann Buckingham , Head Teacher of Park Primary in Newham has to say:
” The StorySLAM was a great success here at Park Primary School. The Year 6 children were really inspired by the introduction to the StorySLAM given by Charlie Dark. The stories that they compiled and subsequently presented to their peers and invited guests were amazing. The children, many of whom speak English as an additional language, impressed us all with the complexities of the stories that they wrote. Their story telling abilities and the confidence that they displayed when presenting their stories had to be seen to be believed. The Chair of Governors, who was also one of judges, was astounded by the humour and pathos in the stories and the comedic timing that many of the story tellers displayed. This fabulous experience undoubtedly contributed to the outcomes for these children in the end of year tests and we look forward to working with the Story Slam team in the future.”
Our success stories range from the gifted Feyi Coker, a Year Ten student from City of London Academy who has been commissioned to perform at the Children’s Literature Festival at London’s SouthBank Centre as a direct result of entering StorySLAM:Live, to the personal triumphs of the young people who have embraced the concept. The final word goes to one of them;
” In our school we entered the competition StorySlam. You have to write your own two minute story and if it’s great you will enter the grand finale..When I performed I put in a lot of expression and at first I was very nervous but later I felt really confident”
