What a week was last week!

Kicked off Monday 22nd with workshops to launch Park Primary’s slam. Charlie Dark ‘turned our school into The House of Dark’ was just one of the comments from the extremely talented Year 6 participants. The pupils led by their teachers took Charlie’s inspiration and produced short stories of such high calibre it was almost impossible to choose. Fast forward to Friday and we had a StorySLAM:Live to be proud of. The Drama Studio was the venue. Twelve finalists performed to a specially invited audience of over 100- peers teachers and their parents. We lost one to stage fright, but the entrants just blew us (the judges) away. The winning entry was a tale of London that had us all on the edge of our seats. Congratulations to the winner. He had to wipe away a tear-brilliant achievement -just the thing to prepare for the SATs last week.

We had our usual brilliant time at the regular Albany StorySLAM:Live. Thanks to the hostess with the mostest, the amazingly talented and lovely Laura Dockrill. The judges were fantastic as usual. Naomi Woddiss, Sandra Agard and MC Angel gave our entrants constructive feedback on their writing and awarded the £100 prize to Ryan Child for his short story ‘Queer Bashing’. definitely a name to watch out for.

Our next event is the Silver StorySLAM:LIve on April 20th. Hosted by Salmon Youth Centre, this promises to be a great inter-generational experience. Come along and be amazed at the stories to be told. Better still come to the workshop on April 13th at the Beormund Centre with our very own Charlie Dark and write your own entry,
